THE LIGHTS IN OUR SKY
Astronomy is fascinating to younger students. This lesson allows them to investigate the sun and moon and get an idea of the bigger picture of our universe.

LIGHT AND SHADOWS
Children will explore light and the shadows it casts as they explore during this lesson. They will play with shadows, draw shadows, experiment with shadow puppets and trace shadows as they cast light on this intriguing subject.

BUGS!
Children will observe, graph, create and imagine while they look closely at insects and arachnids and their life cycles during this lesson. Using puppets, they will enter into a bug’s habitat and create stories of what it’s like to be a bug.

ENGINEERING RAMPS AND PATHWAYS
Children will become architects and engineers as they create pathways for cars, balls, and water to travel. They will create ramp art and compare tall ramps with short ramps and smooth ramps with bumpy ramps to better understand how gravity works.

MIXING A RAINBOW
Students will mix primary colors to make all the colors we see in a rainbow. Using a variety of materials, children will experiment to see what happens when two primary colors are mixed. They will be introduced to the order of the colors of the rainbow and enjoy building on light tables, making kaleidoscopes, and working with prisms while they learn about color in their world.

ORCHESTRATING SOUNDS
Explore the different sections of the orchestra while investigating pitch, volume, and rhythm. Children can become a conductor and join all the sections of the orchestra. They will experiment with the sounds everyday objects make and be encouraged to try to play real instruments.

SENSING THE FIVE SENSES
Explore the natural world while giving the five senses a workout.

WACKY WEATHER
Investigate weather and the seasons during this intriguing lesson. Children will create weather stories and use puppets and props to tell them to their friends, learn more about the tools of a meteorologist and investigate clouds and temperature.
